Cardi B has announced her new song with Kanye West and Lil Durk called “Hot Sh*t.” It is
produced by Tay Keith (who Cardi worked with several times) and will be releasing this Friday, July 1. On Sunday, June 26, she broke the news during the BET Awards with a commercial which went viral on social media platforms. In the teaser video for the song, Cardi is seen standing on top of a building, overlooking a city.
Unfortunately, this single won’t be coming with a music video. Cardi took this to Instagram Live on Monday, June 27, to state how the record differs from most of her previous music. She also said that it isn’t something made to dance to on TikTok.
“It’s something that I feel like y’all haven’t heard from me before,” she said, “I feel like people is expecting a lot of slutness and blah blah blah. Y’all keep talking, I keep making TikTok records and this is definitely not that. It’s a fun great record. It’s masculine [and] it’s great for the clubs. It’s great for the b*tches.”
Cardi also exaggerated that she almost canceled the release of the single:
“I will not be releasing a music video with this song,” Cardi added. “I just don’t feel like doing too much this time around. I’m just exhausted with everybody [and] I’m so tired of people not doing their f*cking job correctly.”
Cardi’s last album, “Invasion of Privacy” dropped in 2018. At the end of 2021, she announced
that a new album would be coming in 2022. From there, Cardi has worked with plenty of
different artists in different song genres. She also joined Bronx rappers, Kay Flock and Dougie B, for their song, “Shake It.” “Hot Sh*t” is her first single as lead artist since 2021’s “Bet It.”
